The location of Hostal Abaaly couldn’t be more convenient. Just steps from Mercado de San Miguel and only a five-minute walk from Sol metro station, it's perfect for exploring the heart of Madrid. The room was basic but very clean, which I appreciated. The shared bathrooms were also spotless, and it seemed like staff made a real effort to keep everything tidy. I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere despite being in the city center, which was a pleasant surprise on a Saturday night. On the other hand, my room felt a bit cramped without windows, which made it hot at night. The key system for accessing the front door was tricky. I got locked out more than once, and the reception staff didn't speak much English, which could be frustrating at times.

The location is fantastic, just a couple blocks from a bustling market with inexpensive fine foods. The bathrooms are routinely cleaned and there are multiple facilities available for guests nearby.
However, the soundproofing is basically non-existent, making sleep near impossible with every noise echoing through the hall. The room size felt cramped, essentially just a bed and a fan, and finding the hostel can be a hassle due to its lack of clear signage. Additionally, the shared bathrooms often had a lingering odor, and pest issues like cockroaches were a persistent nuisance.

9/10
Right near that lively market and just a hop, skip from the Plaza Mayor! The rooms were cozy enough for what we needed, and y’all, the staff were as friendly as a neighbor bringing over a pie. Just wished our room had a window for some fresh air. it got a bit stuffy at night.

clean place , but tricky access
The staff were welcoming and attentive throughout my stay, which made for a pleasant experience. The cleanliness of the entire property stood out, especially in the common areas, where I enjoyed spending time after exploring the city. I appreciated the quiet environment, which was surprising given its central location. Additionally, I found the shared bathrooms to be well-maintained, which is often a concern in hostels.
The key access system was frustrating, as it sometimes led to getting locked out.

The place was super clean and cozy, and I loved how the common areas felt bright and welcoming, perfect for chilling out after exploring. I enjoyed a nice afternoon lounging in the shared outdoor space and sipping coffee in the lounge area. The only thing was the shared bathrooms could get busy during peak hours, but it didn’t really take away from my awesome stay. 😊
